If you’re getting ready to make a move, chances are you’re looking for ways to make this transition as smooth and stress free as possible. To help make that happen, we’ve put together a few different ways to take the stress out of packing, moving and unpacking.
Keep it together
Get off to a great start by creating a moving day binder that serves as a one-stop resource. Here, you should keep a checklist, moving legend, a map of the new place and also a few packs of moving labels and colour coding dots. You may also want to add a list of crucial contacts to this binder, just in case someone else needs to contact a mover, realtor or other person whose info may currently only exist in your phone. This grab and go reference will make it easy for you to know just where you vital information about label resources are.
Maintain a Moving Legend
Create a moving legend that features each colour-coded room, for easy, at a glance referencing throughout the day. Print your legend on a full sheet label and apply it to moving boxes or you moving binder to ensure that it doesn’t get lost.
Tag your keys
A new home means new keys that might not look immediately familiar to you. For the first week or so, it might be a good idea to tag the keys to different access points in your home, such as the front door, back door, shed, mailbox and other secured places.
Spread the word …in advance
Before moving day, be sure to write out a list of people and places to inform about your new address. This can include your bank, utility companies, insurance, places of worship, relatives, friends and more. An easy way to spread the word (without it getting lost in someone’s overcrowded inbox) is by ordering custom printed postcards that communicate that you’ve moved, along with your new address.
Trust Avery to help make your next move easier, with a long list of labels, cards, writing instruments and other products that can help you get organized for the big day, and stay organized as you settle in to your new home.
